Director of Security Industry Engagement, Office for Security and Counter Terrorism
Stephen Phipson is the Director for Security Industry Engagement within the Office for Security and Counter Terrorism (OSCT) at the Home Office. This role is the Senior Responsible Owner (SRO) for the UK security industry. The role leads the newly established Security Industry Engagement team and has two main objectives; Coordination of the Government approach to developing the UK security industry through a number of key initiatives and securing export growth through a new generation of G2G agreements, the 2012 Olympic legacy and leveraging other existing Government relationships (eg Defence)
Stephen has spent 35 years in Industry and has held senior roles within the Electronics, Defence and Security industries. He was Chief Executive Officer of Stadium Group plc up until his appointment at the Home Office in June 2013. Prior to this Stephen spent 15 years with Smiths Group plc latterly as President of Smiths Detection, one of the worlds leading CBRNe detection businesses developing business with more than 100 Government agencies around the World. This followed several years as Group Managing Director of Smiths Interconnect, providing electronics subsystems and components to the Global Defence, Communications and Security markets. Stephen has also held senior management positions with Radiall, Philips and Plessey. Stephen served as the inaugural Chairman of RISC, VP Security for ADS, Chairman of the Security Commission of ASD and is currently a trustee of RUSI.
