Before the new academic year starts, CSARN is promoting Higher Education programmes to its members and stakeholders in order to drive up excellence and innovation in the security sector even further.
One such Higher Education centre, Buckinghamshire New University, just on the edge of London, demonstrates the UK's continued leadership in security education provision.
With students based in more than thirty countries around the world, including hostile and complex environments, Buckinghamshire New University (BNU) runs successful Degree and Postgraduate security programmes designed to enable security practitioners to widen competencies and deepen workplace expertise. All Bucks security students are full-time working practitioners.
CSARN co-founder and also Senior Lecturer at Bucks, Richard Bingley said:
“Such courses are a ‘win win’ for both businesses and employers. Employers receive a number of significant benefits including nurturing and retaining highly professional, in-house security leaders, with advanced commercial and public sector capability on graduation. Likewise, employees and consultants on courses build up a broad range of global security management knowledge and key contacts in order to promote and deliver organisational resilience.”
The MSc Organisation Resilience (18 months), beginning October 2014, develops corporate leadership and survival strategies in identification, response and recovery strategies for businesses and large organisations. The course is blended between workshops and pro-active, flexible, distance learning methods. Students who can’t attend in person are brought in via live weblinks or can access material via ‘catch-up’ video streams.
The BA Security Consultancy provides aspirational security practitioners with a broad-based range of proficiencies that are applicable to clients, enterprises and large public organisations. The new 2014 course, beginning September 2014, is also blended with introductory workshops, interactive learning methods, and accessible, accountable, dedicated module tutors.
Richard Bingley added:
“All Bucks’ staff are senior practitioners in their own right. As such, we believe that our Higher Education courses are the most effective blend between academic excellence and practical day-to-day business management. Moreover, with students talking to each other from all around the world, we have developed a highly effective networking and mentoring environment."
